Who we are
KeepTick is developed and sold by Svmedia di Simone Viagi, Via 4 Novembre 2, 07100 Sassari (SS), Italia - VAT number IT02338550904 - Phone: +39 379 382 3981 - Email: info@svmedia.it - PEC: svmedia@pcert.postecert.it.
What we offer
KeepTick is a macOS app that saves your files as encrypted backups on an external disk, on Google Drive or on your own server. When you buy, you receive a license to use the app, not ownership of the software.
The app includes the open source programs restic and rclone, distributed under their own licenses, which you can read from the app menu.
Free trial
You can try KeepTick for 14 days with every feature, without entering payment details. When the trial ends, without a license, backups stop. Browsing and restoring the backups you already made always remains possible.
Licenses and payment
The yearly license renews automatically every year at the current price. You can cancel at any time from your account: it stays valid until the end of the period you already paid for.
The lifetime license is paid once and does not expire.
Each license covers the number of Macs stated at purchase. You can move it to another Mac by deactivating it on the previous one, from the app or from your account.
Prices include VAT. Payment is handled by Stripe; you receive a receipt or invoice for every purchase.
Right of withdrawal
If you buy as a consumer you can ask for a refund within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason, by writing to info@svmedia.it. The refund goes to the same payment method and the license is deactivated.
The encryption key is yours
Backups are encrypted with a key that is created on your Mac and never sent to us. Keeping it safe is your responsibility: the app asks you to save the recovery kit before the first backup.
If you lose the key, the backups cannot be opened by anyone. We have no way to recover it.
What remains your responsibility
KeepTick is a tool: how well your data is protected also depends on how you use it. You choose the folders to back up, the destinations and how long versions are kept, and you check from time to time that backups run and that a test restore works.
We recommend always keeping at least two copies in different places and never relying on a single backup for data you cannot afford to lose.
Restoring to the original location replaces files with the same name: the app asks for confirmation, but the choice is yours.
Third-party services and devices
Backups live on media and services we do not run: your disk, Google Drive, your server. We are not responsible for how they work, what they cost, their storage limits or the loss of data stored there, for example because of a disk failure, a closed account or a change in the provider's terms.
The same applies to macOS: a system update may require a KeepTick update, which we release as soon as we can but without a guaranteed timeline.
Warranties and limits of liability
KeepTick is provided as is. We do our best to make it reliable, and the app periodically checks that backups are intact, but no backup software can guarantee data recovery in every circumstance: we do not warrant that the app is free of errors, that it runs without interruption or that every backup can always be restored.
To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for loss of or damage to data, loss of profit, business interruption or other indirect damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app. In any case our total liability does not exceed what you paid for the license in the previous twelve months.
These limits do not apply in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence and do not reduce the rights the law grants to consumers, including the legal guarantee of conformity.
If KeepTick changes or stops
We may update the app, change its features or its prices for new purchases and, with reasonable notice, stop developing it. In that case your backups remain yours and readable: they are stored in the open restic format and can be opened with that program and your key, even without KeepTick.
We may suspend a license used in breach of these terms, for example if shared beyond the Macs allowed.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we publish the new version here with its date. For running subscriptions, material changes apply from the next renewal.
Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you buy as a consumer, the court of your place of residence or domicile is competent; in all other cases the Court of Sassari has exclusive jurisdiction.
For any complaint write to info@svmedia.it. Consumers may also turn to the alternative dispute resolution bodies provided by law.
